Fortnite FPS Drops When Using Overlay Applications: What Should I Check?
Closed thread Closed by archiveMy Fortnite performance has been weird lately.
The game normally runs fine, but when I have a few other applications open, I occasionally get noticeable stuttering.
I've got Discord, a performance monitoring overlay and recording software running.
Could multiple overlays be competing for resources?
Not really looking for an FPS booster or some magic optimization tool. Just trying to figure out what's causing the drops.

Check GPU usage while playing. Recording software can use more resources than people expect.
Also check whether you're using multiple monitoring overlays at the same time. You don't need five different programs showing the same GPU temperature lmao.
Ngl, I fixed a similar problem just by testing one application at a time. Close Discord overlay first, test again, then recording software, etc. Much easier than changing ten Windows settings randomly.
Check your temperatures as well. Thermal throttling can cause performance to drop during longer sessions.
And don't download random "FPS optimization" tools promising massive improvements. Check Windows and driver settings first.
